1.Removal from the Classroom - When a student is removed from the classroom, he/she must be taken to another room in the school building and the teacher must immediately tell the principal about the removal. The student does not have a legal right to a meeting with the principal about the reason(s) for the removal unless the student has been removed from his or her classroom more than six times in one school year, or more than two times in one week. No student may be placed on in-school suspension for more than five days in a row; nor may a student be placed on in-school suspension more than 15 times, or 50 days total in a school year, whichever is less.
3.Suspension - A student has a right to a meeting with the school principal to discuss the reason for the suspension before the suspension actually takes place. If a true emergency exists, the student may be immediately suspended, but a meeting between the principal and student must be held as soon after the suspension as possible. The student must be allowed to return to school at the end of the suspension period.
4.A student may not be suspended from school for more than 10 school days in a row. A suspension is considered to be an expulsion if the student is suspended:
(1)more than 10 school days in a row,
(2)more than 10 times, or
(3)a total of 50 days in one school year.
5.Suspension . A student may be suspended from school for conct on school grounds or at a school-sponsored activity for any of the reasons listed for in-school suspension (see above). In addition, a student may be suspended for conct off school grounds if the conct violated a school rule or policy and seriously disrupted work in the school. A suspended student is not allowed to come to school or participate in any classroom or school activities. A student cannot be suspended for more than 10 school days in a row.
